CULINES First Newbuilding CUL NANSHA Successfully Named and Delivered and Deployed to South China-Thailand (SCT) Service

On May 29, 2022, the naming and delivery ceremony of CULINES first container newbuilding CUL NANSHA was held in the Longxue Plant of CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding in Nansha, Guangzhou. More attendees joined this ceremony via video call from Shanghai and the United States.

Hongyu Xu (Deputy Director-General of Guangzhou Port Authority), the godmother of CUL NANSHA, cut the rope and named the new vessel. Yuzhang Pan (Second-Level Inspector of the Administrative Commission of Nansha Economic and Technological Development Zone), Bo Huang (GM of Guangzhou Port Group), and Huiming Xiang (Chairman of CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding) attended the ceremony on-site and delivered speeches. Raymond Chen (Chairman & CEO of CULINES), who is in Los Angeles for the ceremony of the maiden voyage of the upgraded TPC service, delivered a speech via video call. Mr. Chen expressed his gratitude for the support of the Nansha Government, Guangzhou Port Group, and all relevant parties and the early delivery of this well-built vessel and sent his best wishes to all.

CUL NANSHA: The Name

CUL NANSHA (Chinese Name 中联南沙) is one of the four 1,930TEU newbuilding ordered on January 29, 2021, in Nansha. She was built in the Longxue Plant of CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding in Nansha. Also, this vessel is named and delivered in Nansha today and will be deployed to the South China-Thailand service which also calls at Nansha. This meaningful name represents the efforts of CULINES for the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area.

CUL NANSHA: The Vessel

CUL NANSHA is the latest-design Bangkok Max 1,930TEU container vessel of Huangpu Wenchong and the first delivery of the 4*1,930TEU newbuilding order of CULINES. CUL NANSHA is built with world-class advanced technologies and the concept of green vessel which features energy conservation and low carbon mission, fulfilling requirements of existing international conventions and standards on environmental protection. This is also in line with the mission of CULINES to Create Social Benefits and Protect the Environment. CUL NANSHA will be classed by China Classification Society (CCS), and it’s also the first time CULINES cooperates with BOCOM Financial Leasing.

CUL NANSHA will be deployed to CULINES South China-Thailand (SCT) service, bringing upgrade in terms of capacity and cost-efficiency. SCT is a weekly service with a 14-day transit time, and the rotation is Nansha – Shekou – Laem Chabang – Bangkok – Laem Chabang – Nansha. With upgraded capacity, SCT will provide more secured space and higher-quality services, meeting the trade and transportation demands of customers in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area. CUL NANSHA could also be flexibly deployed to most of CULINES short-sea services to maximize asset utilization, thus increasing competitiveness in the intra-Asian market.

CUL NANSHA is the first delivered newbuilding of CULINES. She’s a milestone that starts a new chapter for CULINES rapid development. From 2022 through 2024, CULINES will actively expand its fleet size and increase the ratio of owned vessels. According to the current orderbook, another 11 newbuilding and second-hand vessels will be delivered, of which 3*1,930TEU newbuilding with the same design as CUL NANSHA and 2*2,800TEU second-hand vessels from Huangpu Wenchong will be delivered throughout the second half of 2022. CULINES will continue to optimize the fleet structure with a combination of different sizes of newbuilding and second-hand vessels and long-term and short-term charterparties to achieve coordinated development of short-sea and deep-sea trades. CULINES will also focus on both spot and forward markets to provide customers with long-term, secured, and efficient services. CULINES will keep up the efforts to develop in a sustainable manner and make contribution to the smooth functioning of the supply chain of China’s international trade and the security and stability in key areas.
